Prayers keep the spirit
Alive
When the tethers start fraying
And one dreams to survive
But nothing can be demanded
No deals can be struck
When facing God
One can only beg
For good health and strength
And maybe some love
And while we are at it
Could you add a bit of luck
And bring death to our enemies
And all of the above
Swarming voices can whisper or scream
In desperation and times of need
But to feed and breed
Has never been enough
Everything we touch
Turns to crumbling golden stone
As the earth
Bleeds
On its own
